The band will now be given the opportunity to write, record and release their very own single with talent agency, The Famous Company.

They went head-to-head with fellow contestants Riley, 18 from Glasgow and Brodie Barclay, 21, based in Stirling at the final hosted by Capital Scotland breakfast presenters, Des Clarke, Steven Mill and Amy Irons. The band impressed the judges with their natural talent for singing, writing and performing.

Head judge, and Capital Scotland drive presenter and DJ Garry Spence said:

“Choosing a winner was really tough and we spent a lot of time deliberating over who we thought was the strongest act.
“At the live Showcase we were looking for an artist that really captivated us and the audience. They didn’t need to have the biggest voice or the largest personality, they just had to have something special that drew us in and held their attention. All of the artists did that but Stephanie Cheape really stood out and when it came down to votes, they came out on top.
“We all agreed that Stephanie Cheape & her band are a very deserving winner and have a natural flair for performing which is perfect for opening the SSE Scottish Music Awards in aid of Nordoff Robbins, Scotland.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing where they will go from here..”

Stuart Mackenzie, Senior Sponsorship Manager at SSE added:

“It was great to see so many talented local artists come forward for the competition and we were overwhelmed by the talent and number of entries.
“Riley and Brodie Barclay were both very deserving and talented finalists but on the night Stephanie Cheape really blew us away. We wish all the finalists and entrants the very best for the future.”

As well as opening the SSE Scottish Music Awards in aid of Nordoff Robbins Scotland with a live performance, the band have bagged a fantastic prize courtesy of The Famous Company, that includes:
- Writing and production of a track with an esteemed producer
- Industry standard mix and master
- Release and distribution of finished single
